Wakura Showa Museum and Toy Museum

Recreating nostalgic Showa-era life

The “Wakura Showa Museum and Toy Museum” opened on April 28, 2007.
The museum has about 10,000 items, mainly toys from the early Meiji period to the Showa 40s, collected by the curator over a period of about 30 years. The items are always on display in shiny condition.
In the fall of 2008, a new “Vehicle Display Space” was added to the site.

◆The first floor is a Showa Museum.

The museum faithfully reproduces scenes from the Showa 30s and 40s, including nostalgic tea rooms and candy stores.
The museum also has a wide variety of items such as passenger cars, home appliances, signboards, and bromides, which will take you back to the days of your childhood.
Of course, even those who are not familiar with those days can enjoy the Showa era to the fullest.

The second floor is a toy museum.

Toys such as domestic cars like Crown and Gloria, foreign cars like Ford and Chevrolet, rockets, robots, ships and airplanes are all available. There are also plenty of dolls, including the nostalgic Kewpie and Peko-chan dolls. The space is also well stocked with menko, coloring books, magazines and posters.
