Seirinji Temple
Gobenden was built in 1909 as a resting place for His Imperial Highness Prince Higashinomiya (the future Emperor Taisho) during his visit to Wakura Onsen.
The entire building is made of cypress wood from the Imperial Household Agency’s Kiso Imperial Forest, and the highlight of the building is its Japanese-style design with a “Western-style trust” structure, while the interior of the “Imperial Seat” is decorated with a prestigious folded-up coffered ceiling.
In October 2017, this Gobenden was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property.
It has become a popular spot in Wakura Onsen as a reflection photo spot, where the garden and the Gobenden can be seen as one.
